I commented at one point that I wished someone would create a SF TV series like Hill Street Blues, where many of the stories would not be science fiction and they would just be about the characters and their relationships. He said he was working on something.

@anthrogeek.bsky.social And at that time GRRM was just another middle aged struggling midlist science fiction/fantasy writer. He’d had a long and deservedly respected career inside the genre but Game of Thrones came later. Were you ANTHROGEEK on GEnie? I was MITCH.WAGNER most of my time there.

I remember commenting at one point that someone should do for science fiction what Hill Street Blues did for cop shows, and create a show where many of the storylines are not science fiction, they’re just about the characters relating to each other. He said he was working on something like that — which turned out to be B5.
