@mitchwagner.com Farmer was one of my favorites — especially the Riverworld series. The Chabon piece reminds me there are still a few of his books I haven’t read. Maybe time to fix that.
@mitchwagner.com Chabon also endears himself to me by namechecking Philip Jose Farmer in a footnote. Farmer is one of those writers with a major 20th century SF/fantasy reputation who seems largely forgotten today.
@mitchwagner.com That is a pretty damn good idea for a story
@mitchwagner.com Chabon had just read “The Seven Percent Solution,” Nicholas Meyer’s Sherlock Holmes pastiche, and was inspired. His story: Holmes and Watson vs. Moriarty — who has built an ironclad warship to terrorize the seas — with help from Captain Nemo.
@mitchwagner.com And it smells like cigarette smoke.
@elithebearded That’s what the lawsuit says. But anybody can sue over anything. We only know what the salesman said.
@robertbreen I haven’t dug into it but it seems bonkers to me. Like isn’tthe point of journaling that you write it yourself? I use AI daily and consider it powerful but I don’t see a use here.
@ffmike Good point.
@scottishwildcat I know that when I think of Scotland I think of bananas. @podfeet
