1925 Percy Loomis Sperr built “Pumpkin House” overhanging Riverside Drive, near 185th Street, then rural farm land. This photo was taken in 1931.

I’ve been meaning to reread this one to find out if it’s as racist as it is reputed to be. The racism went over my head when I was 11 years old, and I loved it and it blew my mind.
